The Hyakumanben Chionji temple in Sakyo-ku, Kyoto, has held a monthly “Hyakumanben Flea Market” on the 15th of each month, although it is subject to change or cancellation under corona. Also known as the “artist’s flea market,” this is a place where young artists unveil their unique works! In an outdoor exhibition hall, he said, “I made this. Buy it. It started in 1987. The “Handmade Free Market” that started with 6 or 7 shops has now become a large-scale event with about 450 shops. The principle of this market is to “decide the price of the handmade goods and sell them directly”, so you can enjoy the exchange between the maker and the buyer through the fun price negotiation.
